What to Wear, Where this Holiday Season

Disclosure: This post contains some affiliate links, which means that if you make a purchase using the links, I may receive a commission. This does not cost you anything additional, and helps me to keep the rest of my content free, so thank you!

I can't believe how fast this year has flown by! I mean, didn't it just turn 2018? I haven't even completed my New Years resolutions yet (ahem), and here we are, the week of Thanksgiving. Which means it's time for my annual What to Wear, Where outfit inspiration post for the holidays! Not only will this give you a snapshot of some of the key fall/winter 2018 trends, but you can also shop the components of these outfits in the links throughout the post.

One-Pan White Cheddar Mac and Cheese recipe (great as an entree or side dish)

Whether it's a busy weeknight or a hectic holiday of meal prepping, who doesn't love a good one-pan meal? Less dishes to clean, less maintenance, less stove or oven space needed... it's a win-win. Just in time for the holidays (though good any time of year), I've developed a one-pan macaroni and cheese recipe that will quickly become a family favorite. I know some people are intimated to make homemade mac & cheese, but trust me when I say that this recipe will be a great intro for you. If you can make boxed macaroni and cheese, you can make this one-pan, scratch-made mac and cheese! The bacon, chives, and crispy bread crumb topping add some great extra flavor and texture, and will have your family begging you to make this again. It can be made for a Thanksgiving side dish, or as an entrée.

I developed today's pasta recipe as part of the Allrecipes Allstars Tastemakers program. Rate, review, and photograph my recipe for One-Pan White Cheddar Mac and Cheese on Allrecipes here, and see the full recipe along with some of my cooking tips below.

Fabulous, unique holiday cards from Minted - including shiny foil-pressed cards!

Disclaimers: I received a discount on holiday cards from Minted in order to review this product. The opinions are my own based on my experience. Some of the links in this post are affiliate links, which mean I may receive commission if you purchase products after clicking the link. This is no additional cost to you.

I got my holiday cards out a little late last year... and this year I vowed to get them out sooner.  One of the keys to getting them out sooner is to start planning for them sooner.  Since we already did our lovely family photo shoot with Jessica Rockowitz Photography, our next step was to get our cards ordered!  Personally, I like my stationery to be unique and high-quality.  There's just something about getting something different in the mail, printed on a nice, thick piece of cardstock!  This is why I've been a big fan of Minted for cards, invitations, and party décor for years now.  If you don't know what the big deal about Minted is, you should know that they are a marketplace of individual artists, which results in all of their products being unique, artisanal designs.  They have a great selection of customizable options in chic, contemporary designs.  What sold me this year was their huge line of Foil-Pressed Holiday Cards.  I loved the idea of having real foil-pressed cards with some sparkle!  We chose the Joy Stacked foil-pressed holiday cards, which we were able to customize with our own photos and messaging.  There were also options for a custom back, printed envelopes, and even matching address labels and stamps!

Easiest Sausage Stuffing Recipe - Thanksgiving Side Dish Hack!

And here we are, into one of the busiest times of year.  Thanksgiving is an especially busy holiday, what with cooking that big feast, hosting out of town guests, and entertaining the kids during their fall school break.  That's why I am always looking for short cuts and ways to make Thanksgiving just a little easier - but no less fabulous (see my tips for having a low-stress Thanksgiving, plus my easy Thanksgiving menu and shopping list, in this post).  Today's recipe is the perfect example of finding that balance between easy and delicious for a Thanksgiving side dish.

This recipe is a hack on boxed stuffing - so easy but so good that your guests will think you made it from scratch!  Yay for short cuts!

New Favorite Healthy Recipes Round-Up

In my #DinnerTonight posts on social media I share the recipes I make for my family each day.  While they are often good (I specifically seek out delicious recipes that are also quick and easy to prepare on busy weeknights), every so often I find a "keeper" that the family requests on a regular basis, which becomes a staple in our meal planning rotation.  Last week I shared some of my new favorite recipe keepers.  Today I'm sharing a round-up of my new favorite healthy recipes!  Whether you're on a keto or low-carb diet, or like to shave off calories by using healthier alternatives, you'll want to pin these easy, tried-and-true lighter recipes.

If you want to stay informed on what I make for #DinnerTonight each week for your own meal planning inspiration, sign-up for the free Weekly Fab email newsletter.

Herbed Pork with Sautéed Wild Mushrooms.  While this recipe is low in calories and super delicious, what makes it even better is that it can be prepared in 20 minutes!  Get the recipe from Cooking Light.

Travel Tuesday: Fabulous Things to Do (and Places to Eat) in Lubbock, TX

The venues represented in this post were visited as part of a hosted trip with Texas Peanut Producers Board. The opinions are my own.

Some of you may remember that I had the chance to visit Lubbock as part of the Texas Peanut Producers Board blogger tour a few months ago.  While much of the trip was spent getting to know peanut farmers and producers at their farms and facilities in the nearby agricultural region, I was fortunate enough to have time to explore downtown Lubbock as well.  I had an awesome time and ate some delicious food, so today I'm sharing my recommendations for how you can make a fabulous time for yourself in this part of northwest Texas.  If you're a lover of wine and tapas, you'll want to pin this post for later when you plan a trip to Lubbock, TX.

Where to Stay in Lubbock, TX

Overton Hotel Some would say that the only place to stay when traveling to Lubbock is the Overton.  It's actually the only place I've ever stayed during my visits to Lubbock over the years based on all of the high recommendations I have received, and it's the preferred hotel for Texas Tech athletics (Longhorn fans make note that you will be subject to a lot of Red Raiders swag around the hotel).  The rooms are comfortable and well-equipped, the service is friendly and accommodating, and the food in their on-site restaurant is top notch.  The décor blends West Texas charm with luxury touches and amenities.

If you follow me on social media, then you see my #DinnerTonight posts, where I share the recipes I am making for dinner that night. I love trying out new recipes for the family, and I especially love it when I find something that is 1) delicious, and 2) easy to make. I share these recipes with my followers to not only help inspire your meal planning (see my tips on how to meal plan like a boss here), but also to take the guess work out of trying new recipes out for your family. It's always better to find recipes that are tried and true, right?

I have shared collections of my favorite recipes here before - in fact, I've been sharing recipe round-ups since the early days of my blog. You can check some of them out here:

Over the next few weeks I'll be sharing a few round-ups of some of the new "keeper" recipes I have found. Today, I am sharing a general round-up. Then over the next few weeks I will share a round-up of my new favorite healthy recipes and my new favorite breakfast recipes. Stay tuned!
