Reviewing Taco Cabana's New Flame-Grilled Chicken Tacos and the New Premium Lunazul Tequila Margarita

Disclosure: I received samples for review purposes.  The opinions are completely my own based on my experience.  I was not financially compensated for this post.

Taco Cabana invited me to be part of its blogger tasting program to let you know about some of their new menu items (I know, it's a rough gig, but these are the things I do for you, my dear readers).  Being ever the foodie and budget-seeker, I was not one to pass up the opportunity to try these with my family, since we already love "Taco C" (as the Fab Fam affectionately calls it) for both the quality and the great prices.

In early October, Taco Cabana debuted three new tacos, a new house-made margarita, and a new Crispy Chicken Bites kid's meal.  Here is what we thought of each!

Grilled Peppers and Onions with Salsa Roja
The details: Sautéed red and green peppers, blend of grilled onions, diced tomatoes, Salsa Roja and a squeeze of fresh lime juice
The verdict: This was my favorite of the three new tacos - the sautéed peppers and flame-grilled chicken gave this taco a fajita-like taste that felt like it was fresh from the grill.

Roasted Poblanos, Ranchero and Cheese
The details: Roasted Poblano chiles, melted Cheddar and Monterrey Jack cheeses and slow-simmered Ranchero Sauce
The verdict: This was delicious, with a nice tomato-y, saucy taste.  It reminded me of flavors of a home-cooked taco.

Bacon and Jalapeño with Salsa Ranch
The details: Melted Cheddar and Jack cheeses, roasted jalapeño chiles, Salsa Ranch and thick-cut, double-smoked Bacon
The verdict: Spicy and delicious, this was my husband's favorite of the three (how could it not be with bacon?).  For those who like the bacon and ranch flavor without the spice, I recommend ordering without the jalapeños, as that might make it too spicy for some.

These tacos are $2.29 each (plus tax), or mix-and-match any three for $5.99 (plus tax), and are only available for a limited time.

Taco Cabana Crispy Chicken Bites Kids’ Meal
The details: Breaded 100% white meat, antibiotic-never chicken bites with choice of rice and beans or chips and queso, choice of Mott’s® Apple Juice or kids’ drink, 2 flour tortillas, and a chocolate chip cookie for $4.99 (plus tax).
The verdict: My boys 100% approved of this meal.  It offered a nice combo of comfort food (the crispy chicken) along with their favorite Mexican sides of rice, beans, and tortillas.

New Premium Lunazul Tequila Margarita
The details: These new house-made Premium Margaritas, added permanently to the Taco Cabana menu, are made with 100% Blue Agave Lunazul Tequila.  They are $5.75 each (plus tax), or $3 (plus tax) during Happy Hour from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. daily.
The verdict: I was honestly surprised at the strength and quality of this margarita, especially given the $3 happy hour price!  Definitely worth getting if you are sitting down for a meal at Taco C.

Our family was happy with all our choices, and I loved getting to do the mix-and-match deal to try all three tacos.  Now it's your turn to go try them for yourself!  Remember that while the kid's meal and margaritas are new permanent menu additions, the three flame-grilled chicken tacos are only available for a limited time, so hurry!
