OK, so I know its been a loooong time since I’ve blogged, but I have a good excuse:
The #FabFam has grown by one. My little angel, Grayson August, was born on December 11th at 12:31 pm (10 days early!) at 7 pounds, 2 ounces, and 20 inches in length. He is the most incredible thing, and is growing and developing a little personality so quickly.
Needless to say, he has kept me pretty busy. I am lucky to squeeze out time for a shower or to check email, let alone blog this past month. However, I wanted to take some time to do a Friday Faves post this week to not only announce the little guy’s arrival, but also highlight a few of my favorite items for these newborn days that I have experienced over the past month. These are the things that I have found to be the most useful for this first month of my son’s life, absolute must-have items for a newborn. Whether you are a first-time mom or going for your second, third, or fourth baby, consider this your guide of tried-and-true essential products for a new baby.
Multi-use:

Graco Element Pack N’ Play
Purchase on Amazon here
As my mother said, this thing is worth it’s weight in gold. The baby naps in it, gets changed in it, we can move it around the house so that he is near us when resting and we are doing things, and it even plays music and sounds to soothe a new baby.
Outfit for me:

Gilligan & O’Malley Nursing Cami
Purchase at Target here
Comfortable, and works for an around-the-house top or for an undershirt when you have to step out. Available in several colors, and very convenient for nursing.

Juicy Couture Velour Track Pants
Purchase on Amazon here
Comfy and cozy… always love my Juicy track pants.

Belly Bandit
Purchase on Amazon here
Not only helps you get to your pre-prego belly faster, but also offers great support for the abdomen post-partum. You’d be surprised how weird it feels to have everything feel so loose inside your stomach after a 7 lb. baby (plus fluids, etc.) are suddenly absent. Also offers a slimming look under clothes :).

Tory Burch Flip Flops
Purchase on Amazon here
If you know me, you know I am not a fan of tennis shoes or flip flops… I am a stiletto girl all the way. But if I must (which I definitely must post c-section) wear comfy flats, they may as well be designer. Tory Burch has several styles and colors of adorable flip flops with the iconic emblem. Available at the link above, Neiman’s, Nordy’s, Bergdorf’s, etc.

A friend taught me the trick of letting the vacuum run to calm a crying baby, and boy does it work!

Swaddle Designs Ultimate Receiving Blanket
Purchase on Amazon here
Swaddling is another great option for calming a fussy babe. I LOVE the blanket above that I recieved as a shower gift. It is the perfect size for swaddling, and is cute enough to not interfere with my home décor.

The First Years Newborn Pacifier

Grayson loves these soothies!

WubbaNub Pacifier
Purchase on Amazon here
An adorable alternative to the Soothie is the WubbaNub, with the Soothie pacifier attached. We have one with the cute Longhorn (above). I like these because the baby can grip them or it can be wedged between him and my shoulder when I am holding him, which helps keep the pacifier in his mouth during this time when he doesn’t know what to do with his hands and can accidentally knock the pacy out of his mouth.

Munchkin Disposable Changing Pads
Purchase on Amazon here
These come in really handy for a quick change out of the house, and to line the changer in my Pack N Play.

Gerber Organic Cloth Diapers
Purchase on Amazon here
Cloth diapers make the best burp cloths. We carry these around with us all day, so you can’t have too many.

Gerber Organic Newborn Onesies
Purchase on Amazon here
We got tons of cute baby boy clothes, but realized that barely anything fit his small, skinny frame for the early weeks. Pick up some Newborn sized onesies. Plenty of them in fact, as they go through a few a day. Trust me on this.
